Philippine Lily

(Lilium philippinense)

The bulbous perennial has linear leaves bearing long-lasting trumpet-shaped fragrant flowers. It is a deciduous plant with an erect habit. This showy, low-maintenance plant can be the part of an herbaceous border or shrubbery. This one is not as hardy as other varieties of lilies and considered as endangered.

Care

It needs to be watered regularly but do not overwater.

Don’t remove more than one-third of the plant at a time. Prune branches from the inside of the plant as well as the outside. Cut back canes at various heights to facilitate a more natural look.

Established plants can benefit from fertilization. You can do a soil test to check the nutrient levels in the soil before applying one.
