Gray’s Lily

(Lilium grayi)

The perennial wildflower grows at high mountain altitudes in moist meadows, swamps, forests and bogs. The slightly nodding bell-shaped flowers have slightly flared petals. The lance-shaped leaves occur in whorls. The herb has its blooms facing downward. Each stalk can bear 5-6 flowers. Being an endangered plant, it should be preserved.

Care

Having average water needs, the plant needs to be watered regularly without overdoing it.

Cut back the stems and leaves after they turn yellow, post the flowering season.

It can be fed with a water-soluble quick-release fertilizer every 2 weeks during its growing season.
