The upturned petals that give this lily a bulbous appearance have earned it the name golden apple. Though it has an unpleasant smell, the bright color and unique shape of its blooms make up for it. It was named after the historical Slovenian province of Carniola. The rare plant can be chosen to give a striking appearance to your rock garden.
Regularly water to keep the soil moist but don’t overwater. The soil should never dry out between watering spells.
Trim the old flowering stems after the leaves have died back naturally. Break off the spent blooms when the petals begin to wilt.
It can be fed with a water-soluble quick-release fertilizer every 2 weeks during its growing period.
