Why not garden with your kids? It is a great way to teach them about ecosystems, ecology and start a love for gardening and nature at an early age.
A really fun way to get them interested is to find different varieties of their favorite veggies. There are lots heirloom veggies that look strange and taste great. Many of the vegetables that we enjoy today started off as different colors including carrots which started out being purple. Purple carrot seeds are easy to find today and make for a great conversation in salads. They will also add lots of color to your garden.
Most of the colorful and fun vegetables that you can enjoy growing with your kids are easy to find in the organic seed section at your local nursery or online. I found purple carrots, red cauliflower, and white broccoli at my local organic market this year.
Who knows, maybe your kids will be more likely to eat their vegetables if they take the time and energy to grow them.
