How to Grow Yummy Tomatoes from Seed
The first step to growing tomatoes from seed is acquiring seed that is only four years old or less because, older tomato seed decreases the chance of growing healthy tomatoes. You can find good commercially available tomato seed at most garden centers and home improvement stores across the country.
Garden Soil VS. Pots?
Tomatoes don’t always grow well in garden soil because; most gardens have organisms and other bacteria that can hamper their growth. For best results with tomatoes, you should grow them in pots where potting soil is used.
Before planting tomato seed in potting soil you should add water and thoroughly mix the soil because, it’s harder to plant a seed and get it started in dry soil.
A Six To Eight Week Commitment
Tomatoes take time to grow but the results are worth it. You should place your pots in a location that’s warm, dry and out of direct sunlight during the initial germination phase. Once the germination phase has started you can then place your pots in direct sunlight. Just make sure that you don’t over water them and always stay on the lookout for common garden pests like aphids.
