Get To Know Organic Sesame Seeds
One of the best seeds that anyone can add to their diet is the sesame seed. This seed is high in calcium, protein and can be used in many recipes and meals.
Where to Plant It
Since sesame seed doesn’t do well with wind you should plant your seed in a fenced in portion of your garden or plant trees around where the seed will grow to create a wind break.
How to Plant It
You should plant sesame seed in rows at least 40 inches apart from each other. Before planting, it’s always a good idea to spend at least one hour tilling the soil to make sure that it will be able to drain properly.
Growing Time
Sesame seed takes about 15 days to germinate and up to 150 days to fully grow. Once the crop is fully matured you will have to harvest it by hand because, sesame seed pods are very delicate and can easily shatter if machinery is used to harvest it.
