If you don’t have room to plant an entire vegetable garden, you can think about planting an herb garden instead. Fresh, organic, herbs are a great way to liven up any culinary dish and they are also great for their natural healing qualities.
My favorite thing about my herb garden is how many different possibilities you have regardless of your space limitation. If you have a small balcony, try planting your herbs in a strawberry pot. Everything can be contained in one small space. If you have more room, let your imagine run wild!
Here are some ideas to get you going:
A Mediterranean Herb Garden which would include Rosemary, Oregano, Mint, Sage, and Tarragon
An Italian Herb Garden with Basil, Mint, Oregano and Italian Parsley
If you are a fan of French food try Lavender, Thyme, and Marjoram
Organic Herbs for natural remedy:
I am by no means a herbalist. However, I have found you can also create a natural healing herb garden using herbs that can be found at the local nursery. Here are some herbs you can grow for a natural remedy to life’s various ailments.
- Dill is good for digestion,
- Lavender makes for great mouthwash
- Rosemary helps with your heart and high blood pressure
- Thyme for your liver
- Parsley is a natural bad breath remedy.
- Sage saves sore throats
- Mint will settle an upset stomach.
Organic Herbs For Beauty:
Include Lavender, Rosemary, Mint and Jasmine.
- Lavender has a natural antibacterial agent which is great for light acne. Through some in the water when you are giving yourself a facial or use it to scent your bath water.
- Rosemary is great for your skin and hair. Just boil some water, add a few sprigs of Rosemary, let cool and pour into your hair. It will make your hair shiny and soft.
- Jasmine and Lavender can be used as perfume by gently rubbing their flowers on your neck or behind the ear. Mint can be used when making your own soap or lip gloss.
As you can see when it comes to herbs the possibilities are endless. Who knew that herbs are for more than just cooking.

Grow herbs in a pot is a good idea but you have to make sure that the soil is airy enough so the roots won’t get rotten.
