I have had a jar of this in my bathroom for about 4 months, not refrigerated, and it is not showing signs of spoiling. I didn't use an added preservative. I used distilled water, I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

To Charles: Mine was runny too even though I used shavings of a castile soap bar. But, then after refrigerating overnight it became nice and thick. I was thinking, if you want to continue using the liquid soap, you could look at purchasing foamer bottles to store it in.

To Rachel Jean: You should be able to find all of these ingredients in your local health store or a good pharmacist. If not, then try online. I'm in Canada and I find the websites for Canwax and New Directions to be helpful.

How long does this cream keep for? Do I need to refrigerate it or can I keep it in a container in my shower? And finally, where can I find these ingredients? Whole foods? Looking forward to trying this recipe :-)

When I make the cream it comes out runny like water and never thickens. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong. I used liquid soap does that make a differnce?
