I recently received a phone call from my brother in Los Angeles asking about growing a garden. You see, with the rising price of food, planting a city garden has become a really popular thing to do.

The problem that my brother is encountering is he has a lot of room in the front yard, but not much in the back. He is worried if he were to plant a vegetable garden in the front yard, it would not only be ugly, but he would upset a lot of neighbors. I explained how is it is to hide your veggies among your other foliage.

That’s right.

You can plant your tomatoes behind hedges, and your carrots between pansies. Snow peas and sweet peas both have pretty little flowers and look great on trellises. Plant your radishes and lettuce between rose bushes to look like ground cover.

You can also purchase some unusual pots to plant your herbs in and place them by the front door. Don’t be afraid to plant you veggies among flowers. It is a great way to incorporate a vegetable garden into any yard.

If you don’t have space in the backyard, try the front. Front yard gardening is becoming very popular in the bigger cities. My brother was even telling me about landscaping companies that specialize in front yard gardens.
