Many people avoid planting vegetable gardens because they feel that they are ugly and will be an eyesore on their landscape. While some vegetable gardens are not attractive, this is not the case with all. With a little planning, your veggie garden can be easily integrated into your yard with color and fragrance.

One way to bring color into your garden is with herbs. Such things as lavender, chamomile, and thyme have beautiful flowers. Herbs will not only add color but also fragrance.

One of my favorite, fragrant herbs is rosemary. I always plant it at the entrance to my garden so that when I enter, I am instantly at easy with my first whiff.

If herbs are not your forte, you can easily add color with berries. Raspberries come in an array of different colors including red, black, yellow and even purple. Raspberries can be very intrusive however, so plan carefully where you plant them.

Bright red strawberries add a splash of color as groundcover. With strawberry leaves turning red in the fall, they can give your veggie garden color for most of the year.

Grapes are great at adding color and are fairly easy to grow in most climates. They also add great natural shade if placed strategically in your garden.
Don’t let the visual appearance of a vegetable garden stop you from growing. As you can see, it is easy to add color and make your garden aesthetically pleasing to all its visitors.
