From New Zealand to Argentina and Oregon to Montana, fly fishing is a world class sport. Thousands of people travel many miles to find that special spot where they can cast out and bring in some beautiful fish. For fly fishing enthusiasts, there is no bad day for fishing and Donald R Bernard is no exception! Donald is an entrepreneur, educator, naval veteran, author, attorney, pilot and successful lecturer and businessman.
Biggest Fish Around
One of his endeavors is a lovely spot in Argentina called Estancia Laguna Verde in the vicinity of El Calafate. This lake resort lodge is one of the most popular fishing spots in the world. The lake at Estancia Laguna Verde seems to be perfect for growing some of the largest trout anywhere. Rainbow trout from four to eight pounds and bigger are a common sight at the lake. The lake has gained the nickname of Jurassic Lake because of the size of the fish taken from there. The enterprise also raises organic trout which is smoked and shipped around the country. Donald has plans to create a global company which will ship the famous fish all around the world!
One Man’s Vision
This man has been a dynamo from the start; coming out of the Navy after two decades, gaining a law degree, a Bachelors of Arts and a Master of Laws degree. Donald has always been active in cross-cultural understanding as evidenced by his service as a delegate to the inaugural joint international bar conference between the United States and the former Soviet Union, in 1988. His illustrious 30 year law career was dotted with numerous business ventures, a stint for several years as a law professor at the University of St. Thomas in Texas, an Assistant Attorney General for Texas and presently serves on the Board of Directors for Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, while volunteering concurrently as a Regent of the Board of the non-profit Angeles University Foundation, located in Angeles City, Philippines and a pilot, author, educator and lecturer.
