Plant Raw Peanuts And Watch Them Grow!

If you want to grow peanuts there are a few things you should know. First things first, all you need is raw peanuts from your local health food store. That’s right! Nothing special just regular raw, unsalted peanuts. Next you need to know how deep to plant them. The site for your peanuts should be between two and six inches deep, and there should be around four to six inches of space between each of the peanuts you plant.
It will take from 10 to 15 days after you plant them for the tiny plants to be visible. While you’re planting them you can also water them, but don’t water them again until you see them starting to sprout or you could over water them causing them to die.
They also need nutrients just like all your other veggies and they can get choked out by weeds, so be sure to keep an eye out. Fertilizers that are rich in calcium are great for peanuts and can be used on the site.
Most peanuts are grown in the Southeast, but there are other places that you can grow them as well, it just might be a bit more difficult. They grow best in soil that’s loose and well-drained. As always, make sure you pay attention to where you plant them. If the soil is too tightly packed the pegs of the peanut plant will not be able to get into the soil after flowering and a pod will not form. In short, you won’t get any peanuts.
By keeping the soil loose, weeded and free of pests, you should be able to enjoy peanuts from your garden.
