The problem is it takes a lot longer for the natural predators to reproduce than the pests. So really the only thing you are doing when spraying chemicals pesticides is increasing your pests.

Use compost tea.

Make your soil nutrient rich by adding compost to it regularly. You veggies need nutrients just like you do. Make sure they are getting enough by adding lots of compost on a regular basis.

Grow things that you are going to eat.

If you don’t like squash don’t grow it. It is a waste of time and resources. Plus you are much more likely to pay special attention to your veggies if you are looking forward to eating them. So pick things you love to eat!
