10 Ways To Go Greener! How Organic Are You?
NOTE: Please read the end of this article regarding the destruction of orangutans in Indonesia.
I have heard a lot of people say that they don’t recycle because it is just “too big of a hassle”, or that don’t bother because “one person can’t make a difference.”
Guess what?
I believe that one person can make a difference and it’s easy.
By making a few small changes in your everyday life, you can improve your health, and the health of this planet Earth we call home.
Here they are 10 SUPER EASY ways to live more organically:

Recycle
Don’t give me the excuse that it is too big of a hassle. Most city’s have one bin for recycle so you just have to throw those cans into a different bin. It doesn’t get any easier than that. You’ll feel good about yourself when you do!
Buy reusable bags and use them.
Want to know a secret? Well, maybe you already know this: plastic materials, including plastic bags, are made from crude oil. If you want to not only help the environment but also try to help us get off our dependence of foreign oil, use reusable bags. There cheap and it is super easy.
DON’T BUY PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES!
Plastic water bottles are the best example of what a wasteful society we truly are. We take 8oz of water, something that we have naturally on the earth, and stick it in a plastic bottle. Now we are suppose to drink at least 8 of these a day. So we take this natural resource and put in something that is going to sit in a landfill for thousands of years. Doesn’t make much sense to me.
Practice prevention
The best way to get over that nasty cold is not to catch it in the first place. Eat your veggie and lots of vitamin C. Get your immune working properly and keep it that way.
If you do get sick try alternative medicine
Now I’m not saying if you have epilepsy to stop taking your meds but if you have a headache before you reach for those aspirin, try to take a handful of walnuts instead. It doesn’t always work, but a lot of the time it does. It will do your body good not to constantly bombard it with synthetic material.
Make your own compost for your garden
Even when you buy organic, they still have to use big machines that are powered by either gas or electricity and they package that dirt in plastic bags. Make your own compost, its easier than you think!
Turn your air conditioner up and your heater down
Even just a few degrees can make all the difference. Not only will you be helping the earth but you will also help your wallet. Who doesn’t like to save money?
Turn the water off when you are brushing your teeth
This is so easy yet so many people don’t do it. Water is our most precious resource. Conserve it!
The following is something that is really close to my heart:
Stop using palm oil!

Look at the back of that package of cookies or chips. Palm oil farms are killing orangutans in Indonesia. They figure that if we don’t do something now, the will completely cut down the Orangutans habitat and they could be extinct in as little as 10 years. If you want to know more check out www.redapes.org It is a great organization dedicated to preserving the forests of Indonesia for all of its furry creatures.
If you don’t want to do it for the Orangutans, do it because palm oil is horrible for you. They are sneaking it into everything because it doesn’t have any Tran’s fat. But it is absolutely awful for your heart. And having a heart attack is not organic.
Do something good for someone else
The key do being healthy is also having a healthy conscious. Donate to your favorite charity. There are plenty of people and animals out there that need help. I am a huge animal lover so my favorite charities are the World Wildlife Fund, Orangutan Outreach, and ASPCA. These are just a few of the many, many, many organizations that need your help.
See, by making just a few small, easy changes you can live a more organic life and help save the world.
